A Real Alternative for Patients Who Aren't Ready for Knee Replacement

The MISHA® Knee System is an implantable shock absorber designed for patients with medial knee osteoarthritis, reducing joint load by over 30% with every step, without cutting bone or removing cartilage.

The Technology

How Does the MISHA Knee System Work?

Overloading the knee joint can lead to the onset or progression of osteoarthritis. The MISHA Knee System addresses this by reducing that load at the source.
1

Works like a car shock absorber

When you walk, run, or stand, the implant compresses and absorbs peak forces on the inner (medial) side of your knee - reducing the load by over 30% (up to 30 lbs of force) with every step.
2

Placed outside the joint

The implant sits under the skin but outside the joint, secured with small screws during a small incision procedure. No bone is cut. No cartilage is removed.
3

Preserves future options

The procedure is tissue-sparing and preserves the natural anatomy of the knee. Future treatment options, including knee replacement if ever needed, remain fully available.
4

Clinically proven results

In its pivotal clinical study, the MISHA Knee System demonstrated superior pain relief and functional improvement compared to high tibial osteotomy (HTO), a well-established surgical treatment for medial knee osteoarthritis.

Clinical Results

Proven Results

FDA-authorized in April 2023, the MISHA Knee System is indicated for patients with medial compartment knee osteoarthritis, including those covered by Medicare.

Significant pain relief

Clinically demonstrated superior pain relief compared to high tibial osteotomy in the pivotal study.

Rapid return to daily life

No weight-bearing or range-of-motion restrictions during recovery. Most patients return to normal daily activities within weeks.

Outpatient procedure

Over 90% of patients in the U.S. clinical study had their procedure on an outpatient basis and went home the same day.

No activity restrictions after recovery

Return to sports and high-level activity is individualized, typically within 3 to 6 months.

No bone cutting

The procedure preserves the natural anatomy of the knee – no bone, ligament, or cartilage is removed.

Does not limit future treatment

Future treatment options, including total knee replacement if ever needed, remain fully available.

Candidacy

Is MISHA Right for You?

The MISHA Knee System is designed for patients experiencing pain in the inner half (medial compartment) of the knee who have not found adequate relief from nonsurgical or surgical treatments.

You may be a candidate if you answer yes to these questions:

Do you have pain on the inner half of your knee?
Does your knee pain significantly limit your daily activities?
Have you tried nonsurgical treatments (such as injections, physical therapy, bracing, or medication) or prior surgical treatments without adequate relief?
Are you not ready for, or not interested in, a knee replacement?
Who is not a candidate
Patients with poor bone quality (osteoporosis), an active infection, or a disease like rheumatoid arthritis are not eligible for the MISHA Knee System. If you are unsure whether you qualify, Dr. Easom will evaluate your individual condition during a consultation.

The Procedure

What to Expect

The MISHA procedure is performed by Dr. Easom on an outpatient basis at the Middle Georgia Orthopaedics Surgery Center in Warner Robins – the only ambulatory surgery center of its kind in the immediate area.

Step 1

Before Surgery

Dr. Easom will review your medical history, imaging, and symptoms to confirm you are a candidate. He will explain the procedure in detail and answer any questions, so you know exactly what to expect.

Step 2

The Procedure

The MISHA implant is placed on the medial side of the knee through a small incision. The implant sits outside the joint and is held in place with small screws. Standard orthopaedic instruments are used alongside single-use instruments specific to the MISHA System.
